INDIANAPOLIS– Current NASCAR XFINITY Series points leader, Elliott Sadler, is fastest in the first practice session of the afternoon ahead of Saturday’s Lilly Diabetes 250 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The JR Motorsports driver landed the fastest lap early in the session (54.080/166.420 mph). The Virginia native has two top-ten finishes and one top-five result across four NXS starts at “The Brickyard.”

Landing in the second position is his JRM teammate and current third place driver in the points, Justin Allgaier (54.148/166.211 mph).

In third position is the two-time and defending winner of this race, Kyle Busch (54.279/165.810 mph).

Erik Jones and Paul Menard round out the rest of the top-five.

William Byron, Tyler Reddick, Brennan Poole, Cole Custer and Matt Tifft complete the rest of the top-10 in the first practice session.

In a highly anticipated move the NXS series is trying a new package, as they are implimenting a restrictor plate, the one’s used at the super speedways of Daytona and Talladega, this weekend in hopes to make the racing a little closer and more exciting than in past years at the famous track.

The next on track activity for the NASCAR XFINITY Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is second practice, July 21 at 3 pm/et (NBCSN, IMS, Sirius XM).
