CONCORD, N.C. — Atlanta Motor Speedway regular Robby Woodall joined the ranks of winners at the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout and points battles across five of the six championship divisions tightened considerably during round nine of the 10-race summer series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Woodall took the lead from Jan Ingram on a restart with four laps remaining Tuesday night, going on to a .399-second victory over division points leader Robbie Faggart, who all but locked up his first Summer Shootout crown with a runner-up finish.

With a 30 point advantage over Carl Cormier, all Faggart will need to do is start the round 10 feature to clinch the title.

Ingram came home third after leading most of the race, followed by Cormier and Craig Bruce. Polesitter Bruce Silver was sixth.

In the premier In Light Wellness Legends Car Pro division, defending champion and polesitter Jordan Black took back the points lead from rival Chase Purdy by leading 23 of 24 laps en route to his third victory of the summer.

Black lost the lead at the line to Michael Torres on a lap 10 restart, but took back the point the next time by and never relinquished it again. The race was declared official one lap shy of conclusion, after an incident on the white flag lap brought out a race-ending caution.

The victory gives Black a three-point edge going into championship night, and ties him with Casey Roderick for fifth all-time in Pro wins at the Shootout with seven.

Mathematically, seven drivers are still eligible for the crown, but only Black and Purdy will control their own destinies. If either driver wins the race, they will be assured of walking away with the division championship.

Purdy fought his way from ninth to finish second, followed by Michael Torres, Austin Green and Stevie Johns Jr.
