In other feature action, Ryan Israel became the first driver to reach 10 wins in a single class at Millbridge this season with his victory in an electric Intermediate class main event.

Though he officially led 18 of the 20 laps, Israel had to fight off both Caden Kvapil and Brent Crews in a slider-fest for the ages, with seven lead changes in the first four laps despite a pair of early cautions.

Kvapil edged out Israel for the top spot on lap six and took full command on the seventh round, but came together with Israel as they raced for the lead in turn one on lap eight, spinning up the track and collecting Tyler Letarte in the process.

Though both drivers were able to continue, it was Crews who took up the charge at the front of the field, applying heavy pressure to Israel’s inside for most of the remaining distance.

Crews actually got alongside Israel at the five to go mark, but it wasn’t until two to go that he had an opportunity to charge, after Letarte and Gray Leadbetter tangled in turn four to set up a green-white-checkered finish.

Crews stayed with Israel on the final restart, working the inside as the duo crossed under the white flag, but a dive-bomb move from third-running Eli Adams saw Adams wash up into Crews, taking both of them out of contention as Israel streaked home off the top-side.

“I’ll tell you what, all racing is fun, but there’s nothing better than battling for the lead all race long … and that was a race tonight!” an ecstatic Israel exclaimed after climbing from his kart.

“Coming to the last lap, anything can happen here, and I knew I had to be perfect if we were going to hold on. Thankfully we were able to. That was an excellent race and I’m so grateful to both of those guys for racing me clean. Tonight’s a great night for us.”

Joey Robinson came through the last-lap chaos to finish second, ahead of Kvapil, who rallied all the way from the tail of the field to finish third. Connor Yonchuk and Ben Studer completed the top five.

Sam Corry dominated the 20-lap Box Stock main, leading all but the opening circuit to score his fourth win in the last seven Millbridge races and fifth win of the season overall.

Corry drove underneath fast qualifier and polesitter Matt Gould in turn one on lap two and never looked back, despite a fierce challenge from points leader Trevor Cline for much of the feature.

However, Cline and Gould got together on a restart with four to go, with the contact sending Cline flipping off the exit of turn two. Though Cline was okay, his night was ended at that point.

Corry went unchallenged over the remaining distance, with Gould crossing the line second by .068 of a second in a near-photo finish.

Hunter Kohn, Aiden Turner and Danny Dyszelski completed the top five.

Aiden Price led all the way in the 15-lap Beginner Box Stock feature, shaking off a wild flip from the most-recent Wednesday Series race two weeks prior to score his fourth win in his last five starts.

Price survived two restarts on laps four and seven, holding off class points leader Cassidy Keitt the entire distance en route to the victory.

Keitt finished second, ahead of Matt Francis, Dallas Griggs and Coen McDaniel.

Millbridge Speedway concludes its 2017 racing season with the Speed51 Battle at the Bridge on Nov. 1, with hot laps and qualifying kicking off at 6:30 p.m., followed by racing at 8 p.m.
