BRANDON, Miss. — Story by Race Chaser Online Managing Editor Jacob Seelman —

Sometimes, change is a good thing. In the case of One Up Motorsports (1UP), that change comes in several facets entering the 2015 season.

Fresh off winning the NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series (NiPS) championship with team owner/driver Tyler Hudson, 1UP has announced they will field a single-car effort in the 2015 =RSR= Full Throttle Cup Series, with the No. 01 Rollspeed Dynamics Ford Fusion being driven by four-time FTCS winner Adam Benefiel.

Benefiel joins 1UP for the full FTCS season after serving as Hudson’s crew chief during his NiPS title run last month. The Alabama native made it to the Contender Round of last year’s FTCS Chase for the Championship before a crash at Kansas Speedway ended his championship hopes.

“The big thing for me is, I want to eventually go top-tier racing,” Benefiel said. “I want to get into Pro, get into the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series and be in a position where I feel I can contend for wins and championships.”

“Tyler has proven many times over that he is one of the best on the service. We’ve become real close friends over the past couple of months and helped each other out on some real-life racing ventures in addition to working together on the service. The hope is that this is a step towards something bigger, and that this move pays off in multiple ways in addition to the Full Throttle championship at the end of the season.”

Hudson will serve as crew chief and spotter for Benefiel during the 2015 season, and says he hopes to repay the championship favor to his close friend.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to work with Adam, especially after what we were able to accomplish in this year’s Pro Series,” Hudson said. “It’s an opportunity to work with a great driver, but more than that its an opportunity to work with a close friend. Adam’s been fast every time he’s set a wheel on the track and I’m looking forward to having him represent One Up Motorsports in the =RSR= Full Throttle Cup Series this season!”

The new partnership will kick off the 2015 =RSR= Full Throttle Cup Series season at Daytona International Speedway with the Full Throttle Shootout on Feb. 16, with the first points event of the year, the Daytona 250, following on Feb. 23.

By virtue of finishing in the top six of last year’s FTCS points standings, Benefiel will have a guaranteed starting spot in the season-opening event.
